Meet the Maker — Hassan
“I put my heart and attention into every jacket I make. Every inch is prepared and finished with precision.”
Originally from Surabaya in East Java, Hassan has called Bali home for more than 25 years.
Tailoring has been part of his family for generations. Growing up around sewing machines, he was introduced to the craft from an early age and began his career working with fabric. Over the years, he continued to learn, experiment with different materials and refine his skills, eventually finding his passion in leather.
Hassan has been part of the APOSTL story from the beginning, handcrafting our leather jackets for more than six years.
For Hassan, the difference between a handcrafted jacket and something mass-produced comes down to the care behind every detail.
“Every jacket has my full attention. The intricate details take patience and precision. That’s what makes a handmade piece different.”
One of his favourite details to create is our quilted sleeves. They’re intricate and challenging to construct, but that challenge is part of what he loves about his craft.
There’s also a sense of pride in knowing that something made by his hands in Bali will eventually be worn and loved by someone on the other side of the world.
“I feel proud and happy knowing people are wearing the jackets I have made, especially when customers come back again.”
After all these years, his hope for every APOSTL piece remains simple.
“I hope they’re happy with their jacket and wear it proudly.”
